Follow the Rainbow

Online Kids Yoga

Follow the Rainbow has suspended its weekly Online Kids Yoga classes but it continues to provide private Online sessions for your child!

“During lockdown, Jess brought some sunshine in our lives with Online Kids Yoga – Follow the Rainbow for some wonderful yoga classes! 😊” – parent of 3 and 7 year olds.

ZOOM: a secure, interactive and online platform

Zoom is one of the leading video conferencing software apps. Follow the Rainbow uses Zoom to bring fun, engaging and interactive Kids Yoga & Mindfulness classes in your own home.

What your child will need: an iPhone/Android, a tablet or a laptop with working microphone and camera.

Pre-class consultation

The pre-class consultation will take place when you first sign up your child to Online Kids Yoga & Mindfulness classes. It will last up to 15 minutes, via Zoom, so that we may run through some technical points and make sure everything is running smoothly before the class starts! It is also an opportunity to discuss any health needs or requirements your child may have.

EQUIPMENT: What will your child need?

Follow the Rainbow uses lots of props to keep children engaged. Once you are booked in, you will receive a Kids Yoga kit for your child to use during Kids Yoga every week.

Essentials:

  • a colourful scarf
  • a straw
  • 10 pompoms
  • 2 balloons
  • a bubble wand
  • a die

You will need to provide your child with a yoga mat or carpet area (essentially, a flat, comfortable and safe surface that is non-slippery!)

Booking & prices

45 mins group classes: Follow the Rainbow uses Class For Kids, a secure online booking system. Group classes are scheduled for 2 age groups:

  • 2 to 3 year olds.
  • 4 to 9 year olds

Health, Safety & Supervision

Follow the Rainbow’s utmost priority is the safety and well-being of your child. With Online Kids Yoga & Mindfulness, it is essential that your child is safe and comfortable.

For children aged between 4 and 6, it is advised a parent or adult be in the same room for the duration of the Online class, while for children aged 7 and above, they may practise in a room with the door open, with an adult in the next room (also with their door open!).

As an adult and kids yoga teacher, I am a registered member of Yoga Alliance Professionals and am insured to teach live-streamed classes, under the Master Group Insurance Policy.

FAQs

If your child is younger than 6, if your child is aged 7 or above, you may leave the door open whilst you are the room next door (also with your door open).

After an initial 15 minute pre-class consultation with parents, up to 8 children can join each group session.

After a 15 minute pre-class consultation, up to 5 family members or chosen friends can participate. You can even book a private with family members/ friends who live in a different household than you!

The group classes will be 45 minutes. The reason for this is so that I may gauge children’s response to this new form of yoga. If all goes well (and I will be able to assess this rather quickly!) classes will be extended to 60 minutes. Online Private sessions are 60 minutes long.

Ideally, yes! This would work best using Zoom, so that every child has their own screen, but if this is not an option, then up to two children can share one device/screen.
