Follow the Rainbow

COVID-19 measures

Follow the Rainbow’s utmost priority is the well-being and health of the children in its care. Therefore, it has put a set of measures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of children, families and staff.

Hygiene

Children and staff will wash their hands at the beginning and at the end of class. Follow the Rainbow uses hand gel for sensitive skin. Please let me know if you prefer for the to use their own hand gel.

Reduced class size

The latest government advice allows for after-school club providers to operate with a maximum of 15 children and one member of staff. However, Follow the Rainbow is limiting each class to a maximum of 8 children in a consistent group with one member of staff (Jess), which will be considered as a bubble for that term. This is why, as schools open again, Follow the Rainbow is offering full-term bookings only for Kids Yoga classes.

Temperature checks and Covid-19 symptoms

In line with the latest government and Department for Education (DfE) guidance, temperature checks of children will not be taken. Public Health England is clear that routinely taking the temperature of pupils is not recommended as this is an unreliable method for identifying coronavirus (COVID-19). If your child or anyone in your household has Covid-19 symptoms in the past 14 days (fever, shortness of breath, flu-like symptoms) or if your child or anyone in your household has come into contact with Covid-19 patients in the last 14 days, Follow the Rainbow kindly requires that your child does not attend the class, in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.

1m+ social distancing

In line with government guidance, Follow the Rainbow encourages children to keep to social distancing. Yoga mats will be spaced out at a 1 meter distance minimum. Being a part-time nursery teacher, I know from hands-on experience how hard it is for children to practice social distancing. This is why, with the help of children, Follow the Rainbow has thought of alternatives for non-contact games and activities and ways for children to celebrate (air-five, elbow bump, etc) to limit children’s frustrations.

Personal prop kit & yoga mat

Each child aged 2 to 3 will also be given up to 2 props to use and play with for the duration of the class. They will be encouraged not to share their own props.

Each child aged 4 to 9 years will have their own personal prop kit & yoga mat, provided by Follow the Rainbow.

Any props used for Kids Yoga & Mindfulness activities (scarf, pompoms, straw, balloons, etc) will be put in an A5 sized-zip bag labelled with your child’s name and that will be their very own personal Kids Yoga & Mindfulness kit to use for the term. Your child will be provided with a yoga mat, which will be cleaned and sanitised before and after use.

Despite all these stringent measures that Follow the Rainbow is putting in place to protect children, families and staff in its care, it’s important to remember that Follow the Rainbow aims to provide a fun, creative and exciting experience of yoga and mindfulness for children! And this is what Follow the Rainbow will keep doing!
